South Bank Ramblers

Summary of 2016 AGM

South Bank Ramblers Annual General Meeting 19th November 2016

Following a walk via Crystal Palace, 45 members settled down for lunch at St Faith’s Hall, North Dulwich. With soups carefully colour contrasted, and cakes worthy of a Great British Bake Off, participants enjoyed the film show of photos from walks during the year. Tricky stiles, fabulous vistas and just a few cute animals, people reminisced of sunny days in our wonderful country side. With a quiz to identify stations from OS maps, Roger Sugden showed how well he knows our walks and won the prize.

As for the formal business…the annual reports from officers were summarised and the election for the Committee took place.

Sue Ellenby (Chair) Reported that the group of 667 members and 173 associates, is financially sound and had achieved another busy year of 164 walks .The year had seen the development of a new and user friendly system for leaders to post walks into the programme. A successful training and social event had acknowledged this development and the great contribution many volunteers make to the Group.

Ann Constable was loudly applauded for her excellent work over three years as Walks Coordinator. She is to be replaced by Roger Bennett and Gill Farnsworth was elected as Vice Chair. All nominees as listed on the agenda were elected. As Chair for a third year, Sue said how pleased she was that the Group continued to attract people willing to join the Committee and welcomed three new members, namely Amin Keshani, Graham Huxtep and Linda Casbolt.

All attendees of the AGM were thanked for attending and encouraged to give feedback throughout the year, so that the Group could continue to respond and develop. With a collection of Boots for Africa the meeting closed and all who organised it sincerely thanked.
