South Bank Ramblers

Treasurers Report - 2014

RAMBLERS’ ASSOCIATION
SOUTH BANK GROUP
TREASURER’S ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS

I have completed my first year as Treasurer. We ended the year with the finances in good order and an exceptionally healthy balance of £2576.79 in the main fund and £318.27 in the social fund. The surplus in the main fund results from the change to emailing walks programmes.   The saving means that I was able to submit to Ramblers Head Office a budget of £493.68 less than last year, which also means that we have freed funds for Ramblers’ campaigns. Thanks are due to everyone who agreed to receive emailed programmes and also to Margaret Wasdell and Barbara Nicholas for the planning and preparation that they did to enable us to make the change. A paper programme will always be available for anyone who cannot receive it electronically, but the figures show how worthwhile it is to make the change.
Ramblers’ Central Office have agreed to my funding request for 2014/15 of £1632.82, which gives us a total estimated main fund budget of £1894.32.
I have attached a summary of the annual accounts
, with last year’s figures for comparison. Programme printing and mailing were still by far the largest items of expenditure over the year, but we have spent £922.00 less than last year.
Our ‘2 years for 1’ offer to associate members who accept emailed programmes has reduced the administrative costs of renewals as well as reducing the costs of providing programmes. This seems to have offset the loss of income resulting from fewer renewals
.
So that we comply with the Ramblers’ Articles of Association, the social fund has been transferred to the Group’s bank account. A surplus has built up so, on this occasion, we will not be collecting donations towards the cost of today’s lunch.
Jane Baird has acted as Independent Examiner and has certified the year-end accounts as a fair representation of our financial activities over the year to 30 September 2014.
Our account, as with all RA Groups, continues with Unity Trust Bank. The signatory list is as last year, Dudley Cloake, Sue Ellenby, Fred Davis and myself.
I submit for adoption the attached Financial Accounts of the South Bank Group for the year October 2013 to September 2014
.
