Sun 4 November 2018 - 8 miles - WETLANDS, RIVERS AND CANALS: TOTTENHAM HALE TO MILE END - Leader: Ann C
An early stop at Walthamstow Wetlands Nature Reserve, then through the Lea Valley to the Olympic Park for lunch. After lunch we cross over to Victoria Park and follow Hertford Union and Regent's Canals down to Mile End. You may want to bring binoculars for the wetlands. Lunch: Cafe or picnic in Olympic Park.
Here are three pictures of the Walthamstow wetlands – going in and out. The birds proved more elusive – we saw grebes and a heron, but they escaped the camera:-

We came out onto the Walthamstow marshes:-
There’s a difficult transition from the Olympic Park to Victoria Park – hence Inner City graffiti and that bridge over a ghastly main road:-

Mile End lock was our final stop; am not sure what we’re looking at over the Regents’ Canal; we loved the inflatable baby flamingos; and the shot of Victoria park is typically London – you leave the grime and noise of east London, and happen on this haven of the Park – looking just splendid in its autumn colour!
