Sun 21 July 2019 - 7 miles - LANES AND ALLEYWAYS OF THE CITY - Leader: Nick W
Meet at Trinity Square Gardens, adjacent to Tower Hill tube station.A walk around the City of London using less well known lanes and alleyways. Parts of the City are very quiet at the weekend and the crowds can be avoided but many of the churches and buildings are not open. Finish at Temple tube station but plenty of drop out points. Lunch: cafe or picnic at Barbican Centre

Nick briefing us on Tower Hill at the start of the walk;

Ramblers dwarfed by the gherkin

Green space amongst the skyscrapers: St Dunstan’s in the East;

Leadenhall market – quiet on a Sunday;

Old and new: St Mary-at-Hill church has seen two fires, 1666 and 1988; and of course the Shard;

After lunch at the Barbican, we explore the new section of the High Walk;

One of the many lanes and alleys promised;

Postman’s Park – one of our number could boast of having a relative who had worked in the post office and availed himself of this very spot for his lunch=break;

A pause at the Guildhall
