Sat 2 November 2019 - 7 miles - WHAT THE ROMANS DID FOR US - COLCHESTER CIRCULAR - Leader: Dudley C
A walk around Colchester the Roman capital of Britain and after lunch a stroll along the River Stour to Wivenhoe. Lunch: Lots of choice in Colchester

We arrive in Colchester in step with Colchester’s Jumbo emblem

Our group with Jumbo behind the emblem: the Victorian water tower nicknamed after the elephant in the London Zoo in 1882 apparently in disgruntlement because it dwarfed the nearby church

We join the mill stream on the Colne to reach Colchester town

A town plaque celebrating the poet sources of Twinkle twinkle little star

What the Romans did for us – build a wall
