A walk along the Thames Estuary starting at Shoeburyness, once a garrison town, an area important for military history and birds. Dark-bellied Brent Geese might still be on our shores alongside Sanderlings, Ringed plovers and Turnstones. The walk includes the famous, mesmerising walk out to sea along Southend Pier, one and one third miles each way, for which there is a charge: Walk both ways - adults £2, concs £1; Train one way - adults £4.85, concs £2.40; Train both ways - adults £5.35, concs £2.65. Lunch: Choice of lunch or picnic at end of pier cafe (limited menu) or lunch in Southend
