A walk around Happy Valley, an area of sweeping chalk downlands South of Croydon, passing through ancient commons, woods and open spaces preserved as part of the Green Belt. Reasonable pace, following some of the London Loop. Return from Coulsdon South station.

· Briefing at Kenley Station, and getting ready for rain…

· Downland means­­ plenty of ups and downs

· Flowers everywhere

· Route takes us past Kenley airfield

· Pub as promised – but closed as weather too chilly for regulars to sit outside..

· Path takes us through woods..

· … as well as fields with great views, and blackthorn still in bloom

· Happy Valley covered in cowslips.
