Saturday, 7 August 2021 - BATTLE CIRCULAR - EAST SUSSEX - 12 miles - Caroline & Anthony S
A walk through Wealden countryside with plenty of good views. Initially the route follows the 1066 path passing Battle Abbey and the area thought to be where the Battle of Hastings took place. The walk crosses fields and goes through woods before returning to Battle. There is some road walking and there are many stiles. At the end there are plenty of cafes, pubs and a possible visit to Battle Abbey ·

Mural of Bayeux tapestry at Battle Station –a lot of the way we’re on the 1066 path

· Rain arrives, so a dive for waterproofs

· But luckily rain stops for lunch break at Tent Hill

· A double stile just when we think we’ve had enough of the single sort

· Long grass luckily cleaning some of the mud off our boots

· Little pigs come to see us

· Battle Abbey, our final destination
