South Bank Ramblers

Wednesday, 13 October 2021 - TUNBRIDGE WELLS CIRCULAR - 13 miles - Leader: Nick W

A brisk walk through the High Weald with some steep slopes and uneven terrain. We go through woodland to the elegant hill-top village of Frant and the landscaped parkland of the Nevill Estate's Eridge Old Park. After lunch we pass Eridge Rocks, the impressive sandstone outcrops which are a distinctive feature of the High Weald and then through Broadwater Warren nature reserve. The final stretch is alongside the Spa Valley Railway, a restored branch line. The route into Tunbridge Wells goes across its large wooded common into The Pantiles, a famous colonnaded walkway with interesting shops, galleries, cafés.
Lunch: snack break at Frant then late picnic stop at Eridge Green and nearby pub for a drink.
