Emergency details on your phone

It is also recommended that you keep emergency contact information on your phone. In an emergency, this information can be accessed by others without them having to unlock your phone. Setting this up also increases the chances of your phone being returned to you if you lose it.

Below is a step by step guide to how to set up this information on your phone.

Apple/ios phones

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down to and open the Health app
  3. Tap the Summary tab.
  4. Tap your profile picture    in the top right-hand corner.
  5. Under your profile picture, tap Medical ID.
  6. Tap Edit in the top right-hand corner.
  7. To make your Medical ID including Emergency Contacts available from the Lock Screen on your iPhone, turn on Show When Locked. In an emergency, this gives information to people who want to help.
  8. To share your Medical ID with emergency responders, turn on Share During Emergency Call. When you make a call or send a text to the emergency services on your iPhone or Apple Watch, your Medical ID will be shared with the emergency services automatically.
