Saturday, 21 August 2021 GAINSBOROUGH LINE - 3 OF 4 - BURES TO SUDBURY - 9 miles - Leader: Dave H

The "Gainsborough Line" is a railway branch line linking Marks Tey in Essex with Sudbury in Suffolk. We shall explore the countryside around this route, known to the painter Gainsborough, over four walks utilising the four stations along this line.

· Sudbury’s statue of Gainsborough – our mascot for this series of walks.

Pleasant scenery with much of the walk along the Stour Valley footpath. The final section crosses the Sudbury Common Lands, a traditional pastoral landscape which has the longest recorded history of continuous grazing in East Anglia.

The Friends of Holy Innocents Church – Lamarsh - Grade-1 listed
