Crossing the old royal hunting forest of Enfield Chase, most of this walk is on tracks and good paths through woods and parkland. Some narrow footpaths may be overgrown, and a couple of sections are being redeveloped. There is little road walking until the last mile. Toilets at Cockfosters Station, Trent Park and Forty Hall.   Lunch: Late picnic at Forty Hall Country Park (kiosk and toilets)
